Born as Marshall Bruce Mathers III, on 17 October 1972 in St. Joseph, Missouri USA to Deborah and Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr, Eminem is a worldwide popular American rapper, who has had numerous hit songs such as ‘’The Real Slim Shady’’ and ‘’We Made You’’.

So just how rich is Eminem as of late 2017? According to authoritative sources, this obviously popular rapper has a net worth of over $190 million, accumulated from his over two decades-long career in the music industry, becoming one of the most successful rappers in history.

Eminem Net Worth $190 million

Coming from a poverty stricken background, Eminem had a tough childhood. According to him, his mother hardly worked, and the family was dependant on humanitarian organizations; his mother, Deborah, would also often make up diseases of her children in order to make money that way, so the family moved between relatives homes. Eventually, at the age of 14, he started rapping with his high school friend Mike Ruby, and the duo got nicknames ‘’Manix’’ and ‘’M&M’’, and the latter is the wordplay from which the name ‘’Eminem’’ was subsequently created. During his high school days at the Osborn High School, Marshall would often sneak out and compete in freestyling rap battles. He was appreciated by the underground hip hop audiences and started gaining a reputation for himself. Being dedicated to rapping, Eminem perhaps unsurprisingly dropped out of school, and went on to be a part of several groups, including New Jacks, and afterwards Soul Intent. The latter released a self-titled EP, featuring Proof, and would later on collaborate with Eminem again. His net worth was now established.

Being a part of different groups, Eminem had a chance to work on ‘’Infinite’’, his debut album with Jeff and Mark Bass’s FBT Productions. His career was progressing and at that time, he had a bright future ahead of him; he made his big breakthrough releasing the ‘’Slim Shady’’ EP, in which Eminem introduced the audience to his violent, abusive and arrogant alter ego, Slim Shady and talked about sexual acts, mental issues and drug abuse in its lyrics. However, his success didn’t come through at that very moment – Eminem went on to compete at the 1997 Rap Olympics and finished the competition as a runner-up. Nevertheless, his music caught the attention of Interscope Records’ CEO Jimmy Iovine, who played Eminem’s mixtape to Dr. Dre, a worldwide acclaimed rapper and the founder of Aftermath Entertainment, who insisted on speaking with Eminem as soon as possible – ‘’The Slim Shady LP’’ was released on 23 February 1999, the result of collaboration between Dr. Dre and Marshall which received general public acclaim from critics and the audience. In the same manner, Eminem worked on ‘’The Marshall Mathers LP’’, which was released in 2000 and featured songs such as ‘’Stan’’, ‘’Kill You’’ and ‘’The Real Slim Shady’’. The latter is known for stirring controversy as Eminem called out his colleague singers Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera among many others.

However, at the same time, his satirical view on the music industry gained him popularity, acclaim and recognition. In 2004, he released the album ‘’Encore’’, which sold more than 11 million copies in the nine months after its release, featuring the title song as well as ‘’Just Lose It’’ and ‘’Mockingbird’’, earning him numerous platinum, gold and silver certificates throughout the world, and peaking at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

In the forthcoming period he had a career hiatus, but bounced back in 2009, releasing yet another successful album, ‘’Relapse’’, which featured his hit song ‘’We Made You’’. Once again, Eminem proved that he was a lyrical and satirical genius, as the audience described him. He remained busy in the following period of time, and most importantly released ‘’Recovery’’, his seventh album, which featured songs such as ‘’Not Afraid’’ and ‘’Love the Way You Lie’’, with the latter being a collaboration with Rihanna, both of which received a positive response from the public.

When it comes to Eminem’s latest projects, he worked with Pink on the creation of ‘’Beautiful Trauma’’, released in October 2017, so even though he came from a problematic background, this American rapper was able to rise above it, make a name for himself and influence other artists.

In his private life, Eminem has been married to Kimberly Scott two times from 1999 until 2001 and then in 2006, for a short period of time. He has a daughter – Haillie Mathers – and two adoptive daughters – Alaina Mathers and Whitney Scott.
